Teen Therapy

What teen therapy would look like…

Therapy with Bridget is a supportive, non-judgmental space where you can be yourself and talk about what’s really going on in your life. Whether you’re feeling stressed, overwhelmed, misunderstood, or just not quite like yourself, Bridget works with you at your pace to help you feel heard, supported, and more confident navigating everyday challenges.

Bridget believes that therapy works best when teens feel safe and trusted. She is thoughtful about navigating confidentiality with parents and caregivers, working to balance collaboration with honoring your privacy. What you share in session stays private, with a few important exceptions related to safety that will always be explained clearly. When parent involvement is helpful, Bridget works with you to decide what is shared and how those conversations happen, so you can feel supported rather than exposed.

Teen therapy with Bridget can also help if you’re dealing with big transitions, social or family challenges, academic pressure, or questions about identity and self-worth. Sessions often combine space to talk things through with practical tools you can use in your daily life—helping you build self-awareness, coping skills, and confidence over time.

For teen athletes, therapy may include support around performance pressure, balancing sports with school and life, managing stress, and staying mentally strong through setbacks or injuries. Bridget understands the demands placed on student-athletes and works with you to build focus, resilience, and confidence—both in and out of your sport.

If you are neurodivergent, Bridget takes a neurodiversity-affirming approach that focuses on understanding how your brain works rather than trying to change who you are. Therapy may include support with emotional regulation, executive functioning, communication, school stress, and identity development. Together, you’ll find strategies that actually make sense for you and fit how you think, feel, and process the world.

Above all, therapy with Bridget is a place where you don’t have to have everything figured out. You’re encouraged to show up as you are, ask questions, and grow in ways that feel right for you—with support every step of the way.

STEP 1

Initial Phone Consultation

Prior to the intake session, please feel free to reach out for a 15 minute phone consult to get a sense of whether I am a good fit for your needs. Parents may choose to do this part first, or to have their teen join the consultation call.

STEP 2

Intake Session— Parents

After the phone consultation and if we both think that there is an appropriate fit, we will schedule the intake session. In this first session we will go over your primary concerns, mental health history, family history, etc. I have a detailed intake packet that is very helpful if completed thoroughly beforehand. This session is generally done with parents first, or split between the parents and the teen. It depends how old the teen is, how comfortable they are with their own history, and how detailed the intake packet has been filled out.

STEP 4

Regular Appointments

STEP 3

Intake— Teen

We then move forward with scheduling regular appointments. I recommend starting at weekly occurrences for most individuals, and adjusting accordingly as needed.

If the initial intake was done with just the parents, then an intake session with the teen occurs. This gives me a chance to hear the teen’s concerns and goals for therapy.
